EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT
BCESA hires new EA's in the beginning of the school year (September & October start). If you are interested in a position as an Educational Assistant please read the following criteria:

Educational Assistants implement specialized services for children with a variety of learning needs. Positions are at preschools and daycares. The successful candidate will be able to establish a positive rapport with children as well as maintaining effective working relationships with school personnel and outside agencies.

Wages start at $22/hour
-
Part-time positions are 15 hour/week, 5-mornings a week; full-time positions are 30 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Classroom Responsibilities:
-Assists children as directed by the teacher either in a group setting or with an individual child
-Encourages the development of positive self-esteem of children
-Implement, in consultation with the teacher, educational programming
-Monitor and document children's progress
-Reinforce instructional strategies as directed by the teacher and IPP in programming for the diverse needs of the children
Education/Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent
-One or more years relevant experience or related post-secondary education
-Teaching Assistant Certificate or enrolled in a teaching assistant program
-CPR/first aid training considered an asset
-Experience working in a school environment
Skills/Attributes:
-Outstanding verbal/written communication skills
-Ability to establish a rapport with children
-Excellent organizational skills
-Ability to adapt and manage changing priorities
-Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team of educational professionals
